Hal was born, raised, and went to state school in Bruton, in the east of the new constituency of Glastonbury & Somerton.

Hal knows and understands the diversity of this new constituency, being the Secretary of the local Labour Party, having family across the local area, and having worked, gone to school and been raised right here.

Hal is determined to be our fresh, energetic voice in Parliament and to use his strong Labour values to make sure our beautiful part of Somerset benefits from a mission-led Labour Government.

Hal works as a Parliamentary Researcher for a senior Labour Member of Parliament - working to hold the Conservative Government to account and helping people access the support they need.

A fresh, energetic voice for Glastonbury & Somerton 〰️

Why I am standing…

I am standing to be your Labour Member of Parliament for the new constituency of Glastonbury and Somerton as I believe I have the values, passion, and energy that we need in Parliament after 14 years of this Conservative Government.

Public services are crumbling whilst taxes are sky high, we are in a cost of living crisis, and nothing but sleaze and scandal oozes from the top.

Growing up under the last Labour Government, I know the difference that it makes - I want to make that case to the people of Glastonbury & Somerton.

Having gone to state school in Bruton, like my four siblings and two nephews and two nieces, I am completely behind Labour's mission to break down barriers to opportunity through improved childcare; primary school breakfast clubs; recruiting 6500 more teachers; a broader curriculum; and a rapid expansion of apprenticeships.

Since 2010, state schools in Somerset have faced an average £118 per pupil cut in funding, with my secondary school losing nearly £700,000 a year under the Tories. My nephews and nieces go to the same schools that I went to, but have fewer teachers, cramped classrooms, and less support. It does not have to be like this.

Only Labour offers the country, and our beautiful part of Somerset, the real change that will get us to a fairer, greener future.

What a transformative, mission-led Labour Government will, led by Keir Starmer, will do for you:

A long term plan to get Britain’s future back: five fully funded national missions

Built on fulfilling our first duty: to protect our country - through economic stability, secure borders and strong defence.

Get Britain Building Again - By following strict rules that strengthen public finances and by reforming planning laws, so we build more houses, giga factories, windfarms, roads, labs and ports, developing the skills needed to do so.

Switch On Great British Energy - By switching on Great British Energy, a new publicly owned, clean energy company, that ensures jobs are created here in Britain and that we aren't dependent on tyrants like Putin.

Get The NHS Back On Its Feet - By paying doctors and nurses overtime to work evenings and weekends to cut the backlog - paid for by ending the non-dom tax break for the very wealthy.

Take Back Our Streets - By guaranteeing town centre police patrols in every community to tackle gangs, drug dealers and fly tippers - paid for by cutting outside contractors and waste.

Break Down Barriers To Opportunity - By introducing free school breakfast clubs and more high quality teaching with more specialist maths and science teachers - paid for by removing tax breaks for private schools and non-doms.
